Ida Naylor Matthews, 97, of 387 Naylor School Road, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, December 11, 2016 at the home of her daughter.

A funeral service will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Central Baptist Church in Dunn, NC, with the Reverend Tom Wagoner officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.   Interment will follow in the Harnett Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

Ida, born in Sampson County in 1919, was the daughter of the late George Washington Naylor  and Laura Jona Bass Naylor, and was a homemaker and a member of Central Baptist Church.   She was the widow of the late Obdiah “O. B.” Matthews.

Survivors include daughters; Tempie Matthews of Roseboro, Helena Bannister and husband Jim of Hartwell, GA, Annette Parker and husband A. B. of Dunn, Julean Self and husband Ray of Roseboro; son, Carl Matthews and wife Ann of Roseboro; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
