Alma Pearl Farmer McMahan, 86, of Straw Pond School Road, passed away peaceful at home, July 1, 2016.

A funeral service will be held at 10 A.M., Tuesday, July 5th at Mt. Elam Baptist Church with the Reverend Randy Moore and Reverend W. H. Calcutt officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mt. Elam Church Cemetery.

Alma was born August 15, 1929 in Sampson County, North Carolina, and is preceded in death by her loving parents, Laudie Farmer and Pearly Jackson Farmer; brother, Bruce Farmer; sister, Willa Wilson; and grandson, David Bryant Bowden.  She was a retired accountant and farmer.

She received her undergraduate degree in business at Hardbargers Business College in Raleigh, North Carolina.  She retired after many years of service with Sampson Bladen Oil Company in Clinton, NC and went home where she farmed and did income tax and accounting.  She was a lifelong member of Mount Elam Baptist Church, Clinton Chapter of the Women of the Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Benson.  She enjoyed spoiling grandchildren, charity work, and gardening in her spare time.

She is survived by her husband Samuel Claude McMahan; daughter, Carolyn N. Bowden and husband Junior Thomas Bowden of Roseboro, NC; grandson Charles Bowden and Penny of Raleigh, NC; granddaughter Lesley B. Allen and husband of Brian of Roseboro, NC; grandson William Grant Bowden and wife Angela of Linden, NC; great granddaughter Kailey Ann Allen, and great grandsons Jacob Thomas Allen, Samuel Colt Bowden and William Luke Bowden.

The family will receive friends from 6 P.M. – 8 P.M., Monday, July 4th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
