Emily Lou Jackson Hudson

March 18, 1925 ~ May 7, 2008 (age 83) 83 Years Old
WILMINGTON, NC May 8, 2008 Emily Lou Jackson Hudson, 83, of 2619 White Road, Wilmington, NC, died Wednesday afternoon, May 7, 2008, at Cornelia Nixon David Health Care Center after a slow decline from the results of a stroke. She was born in Spivey's Corner, NC, and raised in Clinton, NC, the daughter of Carlisle Jackson and Bertha Stone Jackson. She was the widow of Onzie Hudson with whom she spent a wonderful adult life in Delway, NC, where she was well-known as the owner of Lou's Kitchen. She is survived by three children: daughter, Lynn Ezzell, of Wilmington; sons, Bob Hudson of Wilmington and Ron Hudson of Durham and partner Roger Miller of Cary; two grandchildren: Aimee Ezzell of Wilmington and Matthew Ezzell and partner, Brigid Cox, of Carrboro. Of eight siblings, she has one surviving sister, Janie Carter of Jacksonville, NC, and many nieces and nephews. Her family was her passion. She loved them all unequivocally and unconditionally, and they loved her deeply in return. She is also survived by her faithful companion of the last eighteen months, her dog, Bailey. A visitation will be held from 7:00 - 9:00 P.M. Friday, May 9th, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton. Rev. Mary Ogus will officiate at a graveside service at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 11th, at Clinton City Cemetery where Mrs. Hudson will be interred in the family plot beside her husband. At a point in the near future, the family will hold a family reunion to celebrate her life and to reaffirm her affection for her extended family. Having yearly Jackson family reunions was a highlight of each year for her. The family would like to thank the staff of Davis Health Care Center for their compassion and care, and Hospice for their invaluable assistance in her very peaceful transition to the next stage of her life and her journey. Wherever she may be, she has reunited with the family members she so loved who went before her and is having a great time at that reunion. We know she is happy because she gave us two big smiles to let us know as she took her last breath. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Sampson Community College Foundation, PO Box 318, Clinton, NC 28329; the Davis Health Care Center, 1011 Porters Neck Road, Wilmington, NC 28411; the Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Page 2 Center, 2222 S. 17th St., Wilmington, NC 28401; the Cape Fear Community College Foundation, 411 Front St., Wilmington, NC 28401, or the charity of one's choice.
