William Keith Thornton, 61, of 511 Panhandle Road, passed away, Monday, December 29, 2025, at his home. After years of health battles, he stayed strong and has now won the battle.
Graveside service will be held Friday, January 2, 2026, at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Robert Beasley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 PM – 8 PM, Thursday, January 1st at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home
Keith, born July 22, 1964, in Sampson County, was the son of the late George Leon Thornton, Sr. and Mary Frances Jones Thornton. He was a 1982 Hobbton High School graduate and retired from Hall’s Fire Department. He was a farmer producing cotton, tobacco, soybeans and hog production. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Leon Thornton, II.
Survivors include: wife of 39 years, Mary Jordan Thornton; son, Matthew Thornton and wife Kortland of Clinton; granddaughter, Remington Mae Thornton “Papa’s Little Shotgun”; furbaby, Peanut; nieces, Lesley Thornton and Heather Jordan; nephews, Leon Thornton, III and Travis Jordan; mother-in-law, Lela Jordan; brother-in-law, Wesley Jordan and wife Wendy; sister-in-law, Stephanie Schwind and husband Dan; and special uncle, Freddie Thornton.
Memorials may be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
