Celebrating the Life of Bill Brinkley William “Bill” Brinkley Clinton, NC Bill Brinkley, 67, of Parker Memorial Road, Clinton, North Carolina, left this world on Friday, June 12, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, laughter, and a family who will miss him dearly. Born and raised in Williamsburg, Virginia. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Martha Brinkley; his father-in-law, Freddie “Coonie” Vann; and his nephew, Van Alphin. He is survived by his devoted wife, Cynthia Vann Brinkley, and his two cherished children, Alex and Savannah. Bill’s love for animals lasted a lifetime; he leaves behind two beloved dogs, including his Chihuahua, Cooper. Though you aren't supposed to have favorites, Cooper held a special, permanent place in Bill’s heart and on his lap. Other family members left to cherish his memory include his mother-in-law, Hattie Jane Vann; his brother, James Harold Brinkley; his sisters-in-law, Debbie Vann Alphin (David) and Amy Vann Fields (James); an aunt, Evelene Brinkley; three special cousins; and a host of nieces and nephews who will think of him fondly each time they throw a frisbee. Bill grew up with a deep love for nature. He spent his youth exploring the outdoors, fishing with his family dog Beau, and vacationing with his grandparents and cousins Becky, Peggy, and Donna. While he loved the beach, his favorite place was always the mountains. Bill honorably served his country for nine years in the U.S. Navy. His service took him around the globe, from the rolling hills of Scotland to the Land of the Rising Sun in Japan. Always a family man, he brought home beautiful treasures from his travels for his wife, which remain proudly displayed in their home today. Bill possessed an insatiable hunger for knowledge and an incredibly creative spirit. He had a brilliant eye for photography, filling family albums with stunning scenery from his travels. A self-taught musician, he could play the blues on the guitar by ear with rare, natural talent. Visitors to the Brinkley home were almost always greeted by music echoing from the living room or garage while Bill worked on their beautiful garden and property. A true craftsman, Bill could fix or build anything, whether rebuilding a car from scratch for his son, a pergola in their backyard for his wife to enjoy every sunset or tending to his backyard beehives. An avid reader, his shelves were lined with sci-fi and fantasy novels—a love for fiction he passed down to his children through endless movie nights during their childhood. Bill lived life with a love for speed. Notorious for his own collection of speeding tickets, he famously couldn’t get too mad when his daughter received one of her own. He will be remembered for his wild, funny, and vivacious nature. He was a man of true presence and personality who brought color and music to everyone who knew him.  At Bill’s request, no funeral services will be held.
