Virginia Honeycutt Matthews, 83, passed away in her home Wednesday, May 28, 2025, with her family by her side.
Funeral service will be at held at 3 PM, Monday, June 2nd at Freedom Baptist Church with Rev. Adam Capps and Rev. Webster Oliver Reiber, III officiating. Interment will follow in the Matthews Family Cemetery, 1407 Huntley School Road, Roseboro. The family will receive friends from 2 PM – 2:50 PM at the church and at other times at the home.
Virginia, born June 29, 1941, in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late William Oscar Honeycutt and Angie Holland Honeycutt. She was a retired nurse from Sampson Regional Medical Center and a charter member of Freedom Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Lattie Earl Matthews, brothers Elmon Honeycutt, Glen Honeycutt, Donnie Honeycutt, J. T. Honeycutt and sisters Mavis Knowles and Ilene Honeycutt.
Survivors include: son, Lattie Earl Matthews, Jr. and wife Heather of Roseboro; daughters, Cindy Duber and husband Corey of New Port, NC and Shelia Simmons and husband Bill of Williamsburg, VA; grandchildren, Erin Lembke and husband Aron, Ryan Kanniard and wife Ashley, Ashton Kanniard and fiancé Shane and Luke Matthews; great-grandchild, Graham Lembke; sister, Evelene Brinkley; sisters-in-law, Patsy Honeycutt, Peggy Matthews and Glenda Grantham and husband Ray; brother-in-law, Brewer Matthews and wife Linda.
The family would like to thank our 3HC caregivers, Kaitlyn Mitchell, Debbie Owens and Daisy Alexander for their kind and compassionate care given during Virginia’s last days.
