Sudie Mae Hairr Cannady, 79, of 2137 Taylors Bridge Hwy., passed away Friday, February 9, 2024 at her home with her family by her side.

Funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, February 11th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Carter officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.

Sudie, born May 10, 1944 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Deems Elton “Jack” Hairr and Macy Elizabeth Lewis Hairr.  Sudie was a hairdresser at Curl-o-matic and a longtime employee of Roses and Alcatel.  Sudie was also a caregiver for over 25 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Tony Cannady, siblings Glenn Hairr and Ella Gray Brierley, and daughter-in-law Marilyn Cannady.

Survivors include: son, Nelson Cannady; daughter, Kimberly C. Simmons; grandchildren, Victoria Paige Cannady, Anthony Glenn Cannady and Festus Simmons; great-grandchildren, Maddox McCullough and Saylor Quinn; sister, Kay Hairr Pope; brother, Douglas Hairr; and son-in-law, Michael Simmons.

A special thank you to Liberty Hospice, Edna Murphy, Megan Crespo, Amanda Wright and the nursing staff.  The family also wishes to thank Rosie Carter and Renee Carter.  Your kindness and support have made this journey bearable.
