Sudie Alene Simmons, 85, of 873 Honeycutt Road, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Carrollton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Dunn.

Graveside service will be held at 3 PM, Thursday, March 30th at Grandview Memorial Garden with Rev. Matthew Creech officiating.  Visitation will be held just before the service from 2 PM – 2:45 PM, Thursday at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Sherry, at 4573 N Salemburg Hwy, Salemburg.

Sudie, born April 9, 1937 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late William Curt Blackburn and Sudie Lee Pope Blackburn.  She worked with Clinton Sewing Factory and Hamilton Beach.  She was a Sunday School Teacher at Piney Green Baptist and Williams Chapel Churches.  Sudie was an avid motorcycle driver and rider.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Rexton Bernie “Billy” Simmons, son Roy Jennings Simmons, grandson Trampas Jennings Simmons, son-in-law William Keith Naylor, brothers Lambert Blackburn, Milton Blackburn, Wayne Blackburn, and Larry Blackburn and sister Maybelle Westbrook.

Survivors include; children, Rexton Billy Simmons and wife Linda of Clinton, Barbara Lou Naylor of Clinton and Sherry Lee Fann and husband Keith of Salemburg; and grandchildren, Toni Brooke Simmons (David), Amy Leah Naylor (Douglas) and Sherry Leanna Fann (Zack); great-granddaughter, Alexis Simmons: brother, Curtis Blackburn; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to a church of one’s choice or to the Sudan Shriners Transportation Unit, 1425 S Glenburnie Rd., Suite 4, New Bern, NC  28562.
