Stanley Sylvester Smith, 80, of 1719 Mitchell Loop Rd., Roseboro, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at his home. Born on March 16, 1945, in Craven County, North Carolina, Stanley was the son of the late William L. Smith and Callie Hazel Honeycutt Parker. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.
Stanley was married to the love of his life, Dorothy Nunnery Smith, for nearly 60 years, sharing a lifetime of love, faith, and devotion. He is survived by his two children: Kimberly Smith Usher (and husband Sam) of Clinton, and Kelly Miller of Roseboro. Stanley was a devoted grandfather to Allison Usher Long (and husband Bryan), Megan Usher Pierce (and husband Colt), Blake Miller, and Blair Miller. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Brycen Pierce, Emmalyn Pierce, Rexi Marie Long, Trey Long, and Ella Pierce.
A dedicated professional, Stanley worked for Chrysler Credit Corporation in the finance department for many years, where he built lasting relationships and was known for his hard work and integrity.
He is also survived by his sisters Elyse Honeycutt Craver and Denise Smith Myers, and his brother Danny Smith. Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Spencer Bryce Usher, his sisters Judy Smith Gist and Angie Smith Bost, and his brothers William L. Smith Jr. and Keith Smith. Additionally, he is survived by his aunts, Mary Helen Horne and Grace Frakes, both of Clinton, along with many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members, who will miss him dearly.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Sunrise Cemetery in Salemburg, NC. The service will be officiated by Reverend Ralph Carter. The family will be receiving friends at the home.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the hospice team from Gentiva for their compassionate care—especially Amanda, Jenise, Mikki, and Chaplain Chris. Special appreciation is also extended to Kelly and Kim for their constant love, dedication, and care throughout his final days.
Stanley will be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous man who made an impact on everyone who knew him. His legacy will live on through his family, friends, and the lives he touched.
