Sherwood Earl Allcox, 78, of 255 Fork Lake Drive, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 27th at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Father Eric Grubb officiating.  Reception will follow at the Parish Hall.

Sherwood, born July 22, 1946 in Beaufort County, was the son of the late Sherwood Allcox and Frances Williamson Allcox.  He was a retired Highway Patrolman and a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.  Sherwood was a loving husband and a wonderful father.  Following his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Peggy to many far away places.

Survivors include: wife of 54 years, Peggy White Allcox; children, Gary Paul Allcox and fiancé Emily Harrison and Melissa Allcox Ferrell and husband Patrick Martin Ferrell; grandchildren, Ethan Allcox and Evelyn Terry Allcox; step-grandchildren, Malena Ferrell and Leah Ferrell; brother, Irvin Lee Allcox and wife Debbie Allcox; sister, Sherry Ann Swartout; step great-grandchild, Olive Ferrell;and sister-in-law, Kay White Turner.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 110 W Main Street, Clinton, NC  28328.
