Mrs. Ruby Lee Burnett Byrd, 88, of 81 Hardy Lane, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at the home of Glenn and Sue Jones of Clinton.


A Graveside service will be Thursday 3:00 PM, May 14, 2026, at New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Dennis Newton, officiating.


Ruby, born June 9, 1937 in Harnett County, was the daughter of the late Archie L. Burnett and Flora Jones Burnett Jacobs.  She was a retired store manager and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Byrd and siblings, Ellen Jones, Saretha Barattain, Al Burnett, and Frank Burnett.


Survivors include her sister, Bernice Long (Gilmer), brother Johnny Jacobs (Carol) and several nieces and nephews.


The family would like to thank 3HC Hospice and Ruby’s dedicated nurses and CNAs for their amazing care and love during this difficult time.  Also, heart felt gratitude to the Jones Family, especially Susan Jones for her dedication, love, and support that has been shown throughout the years.
