Rodney Green Obituary

Clinton,

Rodney Gay Green, 83, of 200 Forest Drive, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

A Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Rodney, born in Hillsborough, NC, in 1937, was the son of the late Bud Henry Green and Lenore Faucette Green.  He worked as a production supervisor with ITT, General Electric and Barcalounger.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church, a Veteran of US Airforce and member of the Elks Lodge.

Rodney moved to Clinton in 1973 as part of the management team for the Barcalounger Company.  He had previously worked at ITT in Raleigh and GE in Goldsboro and proudly served in the US Air Force.  After moving to Clinton, Rodney was active in the Clinton Rotary and coached Red Bugs termite football and the Rotary baseball team.  He delighted in being an announcer for Dark Horse football and loved visiting the players before the game armed with bubble gum.  He was well known in many circles and knew no strangers.

Survivors include: wife of fifty-nine years, Patricia F. Green; daughters, Jackie Laverty and husband Mike of Edenton and Susan Heath and husband Marshall of Clinton; son, Matthew Wayne Green and wife Daphne of Southport; grandchildren, Meredith Laverty, Josh Laverty, Hadley Heath and Alexandra Tirado; brothers, David Green and Robert Green and wife Gayle; niece and nephew, Chris Green and wife Tracy and Melissa Baxter and husband David and their children.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, NC  27534, who took such compassionate care of Rodney in his final days.
