Robert Clayton Thigpen, 82, of 4590 Hobbton Hwy., passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Rex Hospital.
Graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, October 11th with Rev. Tim Ameen officiating in the Keener United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 PM – 8 PM, Monday, October 10th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times as the home of his oldest daughter, Jona, at 4620 Hobbton Hwy., Clinton.
R. C., born April 10, 1940 in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Robert Clayton Thigpen and Mary Lou Anders Thigpen. He was the owner and operator of R. C. Thigpen Heating and Air, Appliance Repair and Mobile Home Supplies. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ann Balkcum Thigpen.
Survivors include; daughters, Jona Smith and husband Earl and Gina Lanier and husband Art; grandchildren, Dusty Smith (Regina), Leigha Lucas (Steve), Emily Sandlin (Seth), Eli Lanier (Alyssa) and Evan Lanier; sister, Debbie Houston and husband Wayne: and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1017 Sunset Ave., Clinton, NC 28328.
