Robert Lynn Tew, 79, of 710 Hollerin Road, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023 at his home.
Funeral service will be held at 12 PM, Monday, December 11th at Calvary Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Salemburg, with Rev. Reece Fairfax officiating. Family will receive friends one-hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Robert, born April 24, 1944 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Halery A. Tew and Eula McLamb Tew. He retired from Piedmont Natural Gas and after retiring, he and his wife enjoyed traveling for many years. Robert loved attending car shows and working on antique cars. In his down time you could always find him tinkering on various projects. Robert was a member of Calvary Tabernacle Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon's Board for many years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Lacey “Bud” Tew, Leta Matthews, Adeen Jordan, Peggy Barker, Bonnie Dale Fann, Cloyce Tew, H. A. Tew and Earl Glenn Tew.
Survivors include: wife of 34 years, Kay Butler Tew; children, Jeffery Tew, Travis Tew, Michelle Thomas (Don), Lynette Hester (Brian), and Kelly Matthews (Shannon); grandchildren, Bridget Tew (Clint), Taylor Tew (Katie), Halery Tew (Anna), Hilary McCullen (Will), Kendra Culley (Brian), Kaitlyn Strickland (Brian), Austin Hester (Kate), Bryce Hester, Kasey Matthews and Ira Matthews; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Elma Peterson (Bobby); and sister-in-law, Jenny Tew.
