Clinton,
Richard Donald Summerlin, Sr. “Don”, 85 of 600 Allen Street, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.
A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, April 10th at Clinton City Cemetery with Rev. Mike Shook and Rev. Cameron Dunn officiating. There will be a walk-through viewing from 1 PM – 5 PM, Friday, April 9th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
Don, born March 20, 1936 in Duplin County, was the son of Zeb Summerlin and Carrie Kornegay Summerlin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Kelly Summerlin and brother Harold Summerlin
. He worked at Hamilton Beach for over fifteen years and retired from Pine State Distributing in Clinton. Don was a long time member of Grove Park Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a deacon. He was a long time community leader serving with the Lions Club and on the City Planning Board and enjoyed salt water fishing, gardening, yardwork and following the UNC Tarheels.
Don cherished his children and grandchildren and was very proud of each of them. He was eager and loved to tell of each of their accomplishments.
Survivors include; children, Debbie S. West and husband Joe, Rick Summerlin and wife Dana, and Kathy S. Foster and husband Bret; grandsons, Jody West, Michael Summerlin, Stephen Summerlin, Grayson Foster and Garrett Foster; granddaughter, Jennifer W. Roach ; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Louise Quinn of VA.
