July 29, 1953 – August 2, 2025

 

Rexton Billy Simmons, 72, of 873 Honeycutt Road, Clinton, passed away at his home on August 2, 2025. Born on July 29, 1953, Rexton was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

 

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Ward Simmons; daughter Toni Simmons (fiancé David); sons Wayne Woodell, John Woodell, Norman Adubato (wife Rosa and family), and Michael Adubato; sister Sherry Simmons Fann (husband Keith); nieces Amy Naylor Lockamy (husband Doug and family) and Leanna Fann (fiancé Zach); nephew Dennis Coughlin; daughter in law (from deceased son, Trampas) Crystal McKinney Faircloth (husband Eric); grandchildren Alexis Simmons, Stormi Haynes, Tyler Faircloth, Kinsley Faircloth, and Paisley Faircloth; very dear friends Ricky McLeod, Mark Brown, Michael Baggett and CFE family; and many other cherished family, friends and loved ones. His sweet fur babies Bootsie, Missy and Dobby. 

 

Rexton was preceded in death by his sons Trampas Jennings Simmons and James Woodell; sister Barbara Simmons Naylor; brother-in-law Keith Naylor; brother Roy Simmons; his parents Sudie Alene Blackburn Simmons and Rexton Bernie Simmons; and his parents-in-law Mary Chirichella Ward and Tommy Ward.

 

Rexton will be remembered for his strength, his unwavering loyalty to his family, and the deep love he held for those closest to him. He leaves behind a legacy of resilience, love, and devotion that will continue to guide and inspire those who knew him.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 8th, 2:30PM at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Chris Butler officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the funeral from 1-2PM at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
