Peggy Mae Gautier Thornton, 86, of 780 Bolick Road, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, June 17th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Jones officiating.  Interment will follow at Grandview Memorial Garden.  There will be a visitation held from 6 PM – 8 PM, Monday, June 16th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Peggy, born December 23, 1938, in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Ivey Gautier and Illa Mae Tanner Gautier.  She was a homemaker and loved to cook and feed her loved ones. She was a great wife, mother, and grandmother, and always had a smile on her face. She loved for her family to visit her and make her laugh. She will be missed greatly. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sheril Thornton, sisters Annie Mae Porter and Shirley Johnson, brother Earl Gautier and grandson Kevin Thornton.

Survivors include her children Danny Ray Thornton, Gloria Gail Rivenbark (Jeff), Sheril Wayne Thornton (Linda) and Lynda Gail Malpass (Lloyd), nine grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
