Pattie Rose (Blackman) Rackley Obituary

Pattie Rose Rackley passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026. She was born September 14, 1933, and lived a life centered around family, faith, and the people she loved most.

Pattie worked for 40 years as the bookkeeper at Sampson Tire Company, where she was known for her dedication and hard work. She was also a faithful member of Rowan Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and taught GAs for many years. She was also very dedicated to her Sunday School class, the Katie Johnson Sunday School class.

She loved roses blooming in her yard, her sweet tea, and visiting with anyone who wanted to sit a spell and talk. Her warmth and kindness made her someone people naturally gravitated toward. Nothing made her happier than to have her family gathered around the table for a holiday or just a simple Sunday lunch. And one of her very favorite things was her great-granddaughter, Amelia Rose, who was named for her.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gaston Rackley; her parents, John and Haven Blackman; her brother, John Blackman; and sister-in-law, Mirjean Blackman.

Pattie leaves behind a loving family who will cherish her memory always: her daughters, Belinda Willis and husband Gary, and Penny Grainger and husband Alan; and her son, Neil Rackley. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Nikki Wood and husband Brooks; and her favorite great-granddaughter, Amelia Wood, who brought her tremendous joy.

She is further survived by her brother, Charles Blackman; sister, Pam Strickland and husband Gerald; her brother, Dwight Blackman and wife Bonnie; her sister-in-law Mary Lou Blackman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pattie also leaves behind her step-grandchildren, Ashley Joyner and husband Wade, as well as her special step great-grandchildren, Caroline and Carter Kirby, all of whom she loved very much.

She will be remembered for her unwaverijng love for her family, her strong faith, and the many conversations and memories shared with those fortunate enough to know her. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love and legacy will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, May 17th at Rowan Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Carter officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the church fellowship hall.
