Nam Wa Ko Obituary

Nam Wa Ko (Wawa), 43, of Clinton, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2025.

Wawa was born on August 3, 1982, in Jacksonville, NC, to his mother, Yong Ha, and his father, Wing Yu Ko. Wawa accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and sought to live a life that honored God in all things.

Wawa was a devoted husband, father, and a faithful Christian. He was an active member of Clinton Community Church. He was also known for his willingness to help others, knowledge of technology, photography, videography, and humor with his sarcastic comments.

Wawa was the unofficial help desk for everyone who knew him. If something beeped, blinked, or needed a software update, he would handle it. Photography and videography were other of Wawa’s passions. Founder of Kotography, Wawa loved capturing images and recording cherished moments that tell a story. His camera roll was full of beautiful memories, and his photos and videos will continue to speak for him in the years to come.

Wawa had a way of making people laugh, even during stressful moments using his sharp, sarcastic humor. Beneath the jokes was a deeply caring person who showed love through practical help, honest opinions, and always being there when needed.

Wawa is survived by his beloved wife, Jean, his two cherished daughters, Chloe and Caytlyn, his mother Yong Ha, his siblings Nem Paul and Nem Daniel, and his godparents, Marilyn Kelly (Mama) and Stonewall Kelly (Dada). He was preceded in death by his father Wing Yu Ko, grandparents, Chih Chi Ko and Mei Lien Ko, Jung Woong Ha and Chun Jung Dong Ha.

A celebration of Wawa’s life will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Life Center in the Clinton Community Church with Pastor Mark Fields and Pastor Eddie Barnes officiating. Visitation starts from 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by the funeral service.

While Wawa will be greatly missed, his family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at home with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

The family wishes to thank Gentiva Hospice, ECU Duplin Hospital, Rex Hospital, and UNC Health Cancer Care in Garner for their compassionate care.
