Millie Jo Herring Lewis, 79, entered her heavenly home Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral will be held at 11 AM, Friday, April 14th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Oakgrove Warren Family Cemetery in Newton Grove.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and other times at the home of Lloyd Herring at 515 Five Bridge Road, Clinton.

Millie Jo, born July 3, 1943 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late James Lloyd Herring and Mildred Alderman Herring.  She graduated from Clinton High School in 1961 and Campbell University in 1965 with a degree in Business Education.  She taught in Sampson County Schools until her retirement as a guidance counselor from Lakewood High School.  Millie Jo was a member of Grove Park Baptist Church.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Russell Wayne Lewis.

Survivors include: a sister, Emily Herring Goodrich (Charlie) of Salemburg, and brothers:  Byron Herring and Wesley Herring (Teresa) of Clinton, nieces:  Wendy Goodrich, Anna Herring Rouse (Jared), Kate Herring Capps (Hunter), and Sarah Herring Wach (Colin), nephew:  Lloyd Herring (Britney), great nieces : Anna James Rouse, Charlotte Rouse, Katie Jo Capps, and great nephew, Owen Herring.
