Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Godwin Cannady, 92, of 1366 Bass Lake Road, passed away Wednesday, January 18. 2023 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 28th at Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. John Hobbs and Rev. Dudley Neal officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.

Mary, born April 12, 1930 in Johnston County, was the daughter of the late James Ira Godwin and Lou Ester Lee Godwin.  She was the secretary and bookkeeper for Cannady Brothers Well Drilling Inc. .  She was a member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church and was a Sunday School Teacher and a choir member for years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Cannady and siblings, Beulah May Godwin, Lee Ingram Godwin, Peggy Godwin, Earthly Godwin, Charles Godwin, Lucille Hinson and Veloria Tew.

Survivors include: sons, Ronald Cannady and wife Pamela and Arthur Wayne Cannady and wife Heidi; grandchildren, Arthur DeRon Cannady and wife Laura, Holly Cannady Tapia and husband Gabriel, and Meagan Cannady Wiggs and husband Brian; great-grandchildren, Zoe Cannady and Zac Cannady; sister, Gloria Boone; and third son and family, Jeff Warren and wife Dana and their children Maggie and Collin Warren.

The family extends a special thanks to the staff at Rolling Ridge Assisted Living facility in Newton Grove, NC.  They were a blessing to Mary and her family.
