Clinton,
Lucille Ezzell Yancey, 91, was born on July 17, 1929 and died at home on May 15, 2021.
She was predeceased by her parents, Addison and Ida Ezzell, husband, Leonard, and
sisters, Letha Yancey and Iris Parker. She is survived by her son, Scott (Cathy) and
granddaughter, Taylor-Quinn Yancey; son, Trent (Carol) and grandson, Tyler (Yudy),
and great-grandson, Mateo. Additional survivors include special nieces, nephews,
cousins, and dear friends.
Lucille retired as the Director of Community Development for the City of Clinton.
During her tenure she chaired state and national boards and committees.
Lucille was instrumental in the ministry of Rowan Baptist Church throughout her
entire life. She held leadership positions in Rowan Baptist Church, the Eastern Baptist
Association, Woman’s Missionary Union, NC Baptist State Convention, and the Clinton
Woman’s Club.
A graveside service will be held at Rowan Baptist Church on Monday, May 17 at 11:00.
Visitation will follow. The family expresses deep gratitude to Joyce, Kim, and Brittany
with Liberty Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
