Lois Mae Maynor Torres, 82, of 6356 N US Hwy. 421, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026 at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Newton, Rev. Terry Cummings and Rev. Jerry Groves, officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from, 1 PM – 3 PM at the church and at other times at the home of her daughter, Lisa A. Carter, at 3124 High House Road, Clinton.

Lois was born January 13, 1944 in Sampson County and was the daughter of the late Lloyd Lee Jones and Mettie Brewington Jones.  She was a Vista Volunteer with the North Carolina Commission of Indian Affairs for several years, a CNA for 3HC Hospice and a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where she served as the church custodian for 11 years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Eugene Maynor, her brothers, Thomas (Bud) Jones, Howard (Teen) Jones and Linwood (Crazy Horse) Jones and a sister, Dorothy (Coot) Simmons.

Survivors include: children, Lisa Ann Carter, Alton Eugene Maynor, Jr., Jason Orlando Torres and Lorenzo Corey Torres (Hannah); grandchildren, Cortney Nacole Carter, Matthew Darrell Carter (Cassie), Lorianna Carter, Derek Carter, Jason Orlando Torres, Jr., Alexis Torres, Niah Bree Torres, MaKenley Payton Torres, and Kohen Brooks Torres; great-grandchildren, Makayla Gold Carter, Jayce Matthew Carter, Ah’riyah Breeden, Osiris Breeden and Ka’liyah Adams ; siblings, Earlise Jones, Joyce Faye Royal and Herb Jones.
