Clinton,
Kay Lane Spearman, loving wife, mother, Nana, great nana, sister, aunt and friend went to heaven early Friday morning February 13th. Those who knew her best can appreciate that her desire for perfection is now complete. Her loves, next to her children and grands, were beach music and shag dancing, traveling, cooking and shopping and more shopping. Her culinary skills were renowned. She never met a recipe she could not tweak. Early in married life an elderly gentleman once told her at a church homecoming that she was much too young to have made that pot of pastry. A compliment she never forgot.
Kay retired from the Department of Transportation and also worked with NC Justice Academy, Spectrum and was a homemaker. She was a member of Rowan Baptist Church and the Katie Johnson Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents, M. W. Lane, Jr and Willa Rogers Lane.
Survivors include: husband, James F. “Jimmy” Spearman; daughter, Heather Spearman Carter (Clay); sons, James Christopher “Chris” Spearman (Brandy) and Barrett Whitehurst Spearman, CPA (Molly) of Clayton; grandchildren, Madison Reece Hawkins, Kipp Alderman Hawkins (JacieKaye), Brinkley Dey Spearman, Briley Rey Spearman, Mason James Spearman, and Harper Emily Spearman; great-grandchildren, Ensley Kaye Hawkins; sister, Rita Arnett (Barry) of Bolivia and Michelle Stanley (Brian Neuhardt) of Rose Hill; nieces, Lindsay Arnette Hedrick (Chase), Lisa Stanley and Lauren Stanley; nephews, Layne Stanley (Erica) and Lennox Hedrick.
