Juanita Lucille Berger, beloved mother and wife, age 83, of Clinton, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, June 21, 2024, surrounded by family. 

A friend to many, she was a cherished member of the community in Sampson County, NC leaving behind a legacy of kindness, selflessness, strength, and unwavering faith.  She touched the lives of all who knew her.

Her entire life has been a living example of Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 – “And be ye kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Born September 21, 1940 in Steubenville, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Laona Irene and John Welch.

After her graduation from High School in 1957, she pursued her passion and love for animals, and began her career as a Vet Tech in Clinton, MD, where she met and married her husband, Joe, and assisted in managing and operating their pet grooming salon, “Precious Pets”.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery, reading, and fellowship with her church.

Juanita was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Berger, who passed away in September 2023, and is survived by her children, Rebecca Elliott, Teresa Kauten, Deborah Thurston, and Richard Berger; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, who will continue to cherish her memory and never forget the love and joy she brought to their lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

A private memorial service will be held in Maryland, remembering Juanita in the presence of close family.
