Joyce (Parker) Crumpler

Joyce Parker Crumpler, 83, of Clinton, NC passed away peacefully at Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro on September 29, 2021.  Joyce was born on February 28, 1938 to the late James Paul Parker and Mamie Williams Parker.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Saul Crumpler; her brothers, Alfred and Clifford Parker; and her sisters, Pauline Butler and Grey Pack.

Joyce was a 1956 graduate of Clinton High School and continued her education in Raleigh, North Carolina.  She was a beautician, homemaker, member of Immanuel Baptist Church, girl-scout leader, substitute teacher and volunteer for the Clinton City School System.  She distributed Ambassador cards throughout eastern North Carolina. She then retired from Belk of Clinton, where she loved helping customers in the shoe department for many years.  Joyce also regularly served as a judge at the voting polls in Clinton.

Joyce was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive mother.  Her knowledge and guidance was the foundation of her family.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Ruby C. Hudson (Michael) of Clinton; Joan G. Crumpler (Melinda) of Atlanta, Georgia; Reuben Saul Crumpler, Jr. (Christina) of Strasburg, Pennsylvania; and Judy C. Anderson (Larry) of Clinton. 

Grandchildren: Lauren H. Mueller, Aleza H. Jones, Jared S. Hudson, Cole A. Crumpler, Elizabeth A. Crumpler and Parker D. Anderson.

Great-grandchildren:  Cameron Jones, Taylor Jones and Abigail Mueller.

She is also survived by her brother, James (Jimmy) Parker and wife, Marta of Springfield, Virginia; and sister, Judith (Judy) Powell of Clinton, North Carolina; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to express their appreciation to the teams at Village Green Health and Rehabilitation in Fayetteville, Brookdale Country Day Road, and Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro for their expert care and dedication over the last nine months. 

Due to concerns about the transmission of COVID-19, there will be no visitation at the funeral home.  Friends and family are invited to a graveside memorial service at the Clinton Cemetery on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.
