Joseph Wildon “JW” Warren, 76, of 2165 Church Road, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at Duke University Hospital, Durham, N.C.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 31, 2023 at Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Newton and Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Memorial Garden with Military Funeral Honors. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM at the church prior to the service. The family will receive friends other times at the home.
Friends coming from the Church Road area, please allow for extra time because of a bridge outage on the the Mary's Chapel Church Road. The road is clearly marked and the detour is short.
JW, was born December 25, 1947 in Harnett County, the son of the late Jasper Wilton Warren and Corona Jackson Warren. He was a man of many talents, lover of Harley motorcycles, and the owner and operator of JW Warren Trucking from the late 1980’s until 2003. He was awarded the Purple Heart during the Vietnam War, as well as the Army Commendation with V Device (ARCOM).
Survivors include: his wife of 43 years: Cynthia Ann Hunter Warren of the home; sister, Marie Warren Stone (Dale) of Durham; children, Michelle Palatine (Chad) of Wake Forest, Chris Warren (Michelle) of Spivey’s Corner, Jamie Butler (Jonathan) of Salemburg, Amanda Thornton of Clinton, Melissa Knowles (Luke) of Grantham, and Jessica Warren of Clinton; grandchildren, Tyler Gibson, Savannah Gibson (Braxton), Alexis Gibson, Matthew Knowles, Cody Faircloth, Paisley Faircloth, Kyra Faircloth, Camden Warren, Courtney Tew, Brittany Howell (Kevin), Joshua Warren, Lacey Warren, Trevar Butler, Emma Kate Butler; bonus grandchildren, Sofia Rains and Elizabeth Coria; special friend, James “Haywood” Bass; his beloved dog, Rudy; special niece, Angela Richardson (David) of Cary; three great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Lois Hawkins; and brother-in-laws, Rodney Hunter (Dora) and J. F. Hunter (Kimberly).
