Joanne McCrea Bradshaw, 88, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2025, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, September 13th at Turkey Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathon Shattuck officiating. 

She was born August 14, 1937, in Salters, SC, to Zela Tisdale McCrea and Arthur E. McCrea.  Joanne graduated from Kingstree High in 1955 and attended Anderson College in Anderson, SC.  She moved to Wilmington, NC, then Raleigh, NC, in 1957 where she was employed at CP& L.  She met her future husband, Paul Bradshaw at CP&L and they married in 1964.  She then worked at the NC Board of Education, before welcoming a daughter, Marti, and then becoming a stay-at-home Mom.

Joanne was passionate about animals and gardening and could usually be found sweaty and happy on her gator with a weed whacker.  She became “Jojo” at the birth of her first grandson, Sam, and second grandson, Jesse, and was elated.

She leaves behind her daughter Marti Ray and grandsons Sam and Jesse Ray, plus several nieces and nephews.

She is pre-deceased by her husband Paul, brothers Ned, Bill and Brice, and her parents.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or church.
