Jimmie Nelson Owens, 85, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at SECU Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, NC.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, February 18th at Owen Grove PFWB Church with Rev. Freddie Gooding and Rev. Kim Strickland officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at the church and at other times at the home of his daughter at 7454 US Hwy 421 North, Clinton, NC.

Jimmie Nelson, born January 8, 1941, in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Franklin Owens and Georganna Ellis Owens.  He was a construction contractor and a farmer.  Jimmie Nelson was a member of Owen Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Doris Ann Potter Owens.

Survivors include his son Steven Owens (Jennifer) of Clinton, daughter Sandra Bryant (Vinnie) of Clinton, grandchildren Blake Owens, Hunter Owens, Corey Cox and Samantha Cox, four step grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, brother Larry T. Owens (Grace) of Clinton and stepdaughters Shannon Murphy and Leah Trodgen.
