         Mr. James “Jimmy” McCullen Jr., 58, of Clinton, N.C., passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Duke University Hospital in Durham.

         Funeral service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, May 19th at Johnson Baptist Church, 473 Johnson Church Road, Warsaw, with Rev. David “Buck” Grady and Rev. Dr. Kenneth Benton officiating.  Interment is to follow in the family cemetery located behind the home.  A visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church.

          Jimmy was born November 8, 1965, Sampson County to the late James “Jack” McCullen and Lillian McCullen. In addition to his parents, Jimmy is preceded in death by his sisters: Brenda Cobb and Jackie Lynn McCullen.

          Jimmy leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Belinda Grady DeLuca McCullen of the home, three step-sons: Charlie Thames and wife, Kristin of Autryville; Shane DeLuca of Clinton, Shaun DeLuca of Clinton, eight grandchildren: Michael Thames, Landon Thames, Alivia Thames, Scarlett DeLuca, Syris DeLuca, Shelby DeLuca, Sawyer DeLuca, and Sebastian Quinn.

          Jimmy, a graduate of Lakewood High School and Campbell University, worked hard and enjoyed his career as a respected farmer of livestock. In addition to his farmlife, Jimmy was an avid supporter of Lakewood football, Carolina Tarheels sports, and anything John Deere related. He, too, was an active member of Johnson Baptist Church and served throughout the years as a deacon. His love for Jesus was the one interest that shined the most. “Betty White”, his sweet Yorkie pup was his fur companion whom he, too, loved dearly.

          With his love like Jesus, Jimmy happily assisted others and would go without, if need be, to benefit another. He was a donor in life and after. Contributing to numerous charities and fundraisers was a purpose he truly loved. After his passing and his status as an organ donor, Jimmy was able to help in regaining sight to two recipients.

          Jimmy adored his Lord, farm and family. He would want those to never be forgotten.
