Raleigh,
James Douglas “J.D.” Chambers, 88, of Raleigh, passed away at Wake Medical on June 23, 2022, with his wife by his side.
Born October 1, 1933, in Casper, Wyoming, JD was the son of the late TR and Edna Chambers. JD served four years in the United State Navy during the Korean War. While spending time at Camp Lejeune, JD fell in love with North Carolina. After being discharged from the military, he decided to stay in North Carolina and enjoy everything this great state offered.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 43 years, Ellen P. Chambers; father-in-law, Joe A. Parker of Clinton; sister-in-law, Nancy P. Stein (Jerry) of Columbia, SC; brother-in-law, Joe Frank Parker of Roseboro, NC; and his nephews: Andy Stein, Kent Stein, and Joey Parker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Maryann Borden; brother-in-law, George Borden; niece, Dana Borden; and nephew, Lance Borden.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at Grandview Memorial Park, 2809 US-421, Clinton, NC 28328 with Pastor Andy Wood officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Knightdale United Methodist Church, 7071 Forestville Road, Knightdale, NC 27545.
