James Delano Smith, “J. D.”, 77, of 4111 Bent Grass Drive, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at his home.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 26th at Clinton City Cemetery, 103 Raiford Street, Clinton, NC,  with the Rev. John Cuthill and Terry Miller officiating. Family will receive friends at the home.

James, born in 1943 in Sampson County, was the son of the late James Smith and Beulah Norris Smith.  He was the co-owner and operator (along with Jr. Smith) of Smith International Truck Center in Fayetteville and Lumberton.  He attended Life Point Church.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by; son, James Dool Smith; step-father, James Hutchins; stepsons, Douglas Jay Peterson, Jr and Lawrence Dicker; and brother, James Smith.

Survivors include: wife, Doris Marie Faircloth Smith; stepchildren, LaDonna Peterson, Lauralisa Dicker and Dennis Pittman; sister, Marie Moore; three grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
