CORRECTION TO TIME OF SERVICES

James Arthur Brewington, 82, of 464 Brewington Road, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Rex Hospital with his wife by his side. 

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, July 21st at New Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Webb and Rev. Ricky Jacobs officiating.  Interment will follow the service in Grandview Memorial Garden.  The family will receive friends from 1 PM – 2 PM, at the church just before the service and at other times at the home.

James born June 9, 1941 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Hardy Floyd Brewington and Bessie Merritt Epps Brewington.  He worked as a supervisor with Correction Enterprise where he was fondly known as “Bushwacker”.  He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Anthony Brewington, brothers, Avan, Carl, Curtis, Karon and Genford Brewington and sisters, Annette Brewington, Christine Jacobs, and Annie B. Carter.

Survivors include: wife, Peggy Tew Brewington; son, James Alex Brewington and wife Juanita; daughters, Carol Gene Brewington and Dean and Michelle Brewington; brother, Princeton Brewington; sisters, Marie Faircloth, Rebecca Maynor and Carol Vann; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
