Hilda Grey (Royal) Thompson

Hilda Thompson, Spivey's Corner, NC, daughter of Theodore and Pearl Royal, was born May 16, 1935, in Sampson County, North Carolina, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2023 in Grapevine, Texas. At the time of her passing, she was 88 years of age.

Hilda was a loyal wife, loving mother, and devoted Christian. On December 20, 1951, she was united in marriage to Arnold Thompson and to this union three children were born. Hilda’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Hilda was never more content than when she was on the fishing pier with Arnold. She cherished time spent with her family and friends. Hilda loved to shop and couldn’t resist a good bargain. She was a dedicated member of the church and shared her faith with so many. It is that same faith that provided her strength and comfort to the end.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Arnold Thompson; parents, Theodore and Pearl Royal; brothers James, Marvin, Cedric, Gene and Wiley; and sisters Faye and Swinburne.

Her survivors are her son, Ronald Thompson, and wife Kallen, of Goldsboro, NC; son Craig Thompson and wife, Renee, of Winston-Salem, NC; daughter, Tonya Green, and husband, Byron, of Grapevine, TX; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Royal of Garner, NC; brother Dallas “Wayne” and wife, Brenda, of Spivey’s Corner, NC; brother Linwood “Ray” and wife, Eva, of Spivey’s Corner, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A viewing will begin at 10:30 am followed by a service at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home in Clinton, NC with Pastor Cloud officiating. The burial will be in Clinton Cemetery, Clinton, NC. Floral arrangements can be sent to Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.
