Henry Preston Lucas Jr

Henry Preston Lucas, Jr., 75 of Turkey passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Funeral Service for Mr. Lucas will be at 11 AM, Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Clinton Family Worship Center with the Rev. Lynn Blackburn, Rev. Tony Moore and Rev. David Brinson, officiating.  Burial will take place at the Turkey Baptist Church Cemetery immediately following the service.  The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6 PM to 9 PM at Crumpler Honeycutt Funeral Home.

Henry was born July 27, 1949, to the late Henry Preston Lucas Sr. and Maggie Elizabeth Andrews Lucas and is survived by his wife of 34 years, Linda McGowan Lucas.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Mabel West.

Henry was a highly respected farmer who was always willing to help other farmers when needed.  He also served his community by serving on the Four County Electric Membership Board as well as the Sampson County Farm Service Board and was president of Stewart’s Creek Hunting Club.

In addition to his wife, Linda, he is survived by a daughter, Bridget Lucas, 2 step-children, Kathy Kearney (Rick) and Tony Moore (Kathy), 7 grandchildren Britany Cornett (Chris), Joshua Moore (Brandi), Sara Carter (Berklin),  Marianne Jones (Cameron),  Matthew Kearney (Amanda), Jenna Kearney and John Kearney, 4 Great Grandchildren, Brice Albritton, Brentlee Cornett, Case Carter and Charleigh Carter, plus one brother, James Lucas and 2 sisters Anna Corbett (Charles) and Susan Griffin, and two men who were like sons, Jose Vasquez and his children, Abraham, Lymari, Jason, Nathan, Michael and Carlos and Philip Sanderson.
