Clinton,
Helen Mae Dixon Matthis, 89, of 4170 Turkey Hwy, passed away, Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Turkey Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ron Bryan officiating. Interment will follow in the Matthis Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Turkey Baptist Church.
Helen, born in 1929 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late James Daniel Dixon and Sallie Mae Flynn Dixon. She retired from Lundy Packing Company with over forty years of service. She attended Turkey Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Benjamin Tillman Matthis, children, Nettie Rae Matthis, Jimmie Lang Matthis and grandchild, Jonathan Matthis.
Survivors include; daughter, Diane Cain (Ray) of Turkey; son, Clayton Matthis of Turkey; sister, Doris Cottle of Turkey; grandchildren, Lisa Cain, Laura Cain, Joy Matthis, Patrick Matthis, Janie Matthis; great-grandchildren, Garrett Whipkey, Jack Whipkey, Savannah Whipkey, Abigail Whipkey, Alannah Cain and Emma Lee Matthis.
