Helen Naylor Herring, 91, passed away Friday, April 19, 2024 at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

Helen, born July 3, 1932 in Sampson County, was the daughter of the late Earthen Naylor and Bevie Odom Naylor.  She was a farmer and longtime member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  Helen loved Hickory Grove Baptist Church and loved her flowers.  For years she and her good friend Mrs. Eloise Naylor would provide fresh flowers from their yard year-round for the sanctuary.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 22nd at Hickory Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Matthew Creech officiating. Interment will follow the funeral in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service in the fellowship hall and at other times at her home.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Thedie Herring, son Robert Herring, sister Lillian Scott Godwin and brother Tommy Odom Naylor. 

Survivors include her children, Mac Herring Howington (Rickey), Bryant Herring (Debby) and Jeff Herring (Carolyn), eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.
