Gloria Deloris (Carter) Royal

Gloria Deloris Carter Royal left this world and went to her heavenly home on the morning of July 3rd.  She spent her final hours here surrounded by her family who she cherished.

Gloria was born September 27, 1953, in Clinton, North Carolina to John Edward and Bertha Mae Pope Carter. 

After graduating from Hobbton High School, Gloria married Lee Royal.  She helped him with farming until they started a family.  Then she became a stay-at-home mom.  Her love for children continued because once she started working away from home, all her jobs involved children.  She served others working in the daycare business up until just one week before her passing.  She had a love for all children, but her grandchildren were the light of her life.  She was affectionally known as ‘Nonnie’ to eight grandchildren and one great grandson.  She loved attending everything they were involved with.  This included ball games, dance recitals, graduations, and special programs that they were involved in.  She loved to bring them their favorite snack anytime she visited, or she had them readily available at her house when they would stop by.

Gloria is survived by her three children:  Shannon Royal Jones and husband James, Brandie Royal Daniels and husband Jonathan and John Royal.  Eight grandchildren:  Malaki Royal and fiancé Sydney Chastain, Ian Daniels, Madison Daniels, Lexi Royal and fiancé Zachary Buck, Jacob Daniels, Whitni Royal, Avery Jones, and Trace Jones.  One great grandson:  Grayson Buck.  Although Lee and Gloria were no longer married, they remained close and helped one another when needed. 

The family is deeply saddened that she is no longer here, but we know she is celebrating in the presence of the Lord.  On Friday, July 7th, visitation will begin at 1:00 followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 PM at Sharon Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2121 Odom Rd. Clinton.  The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Brandie, 3786 Mount Moriah Church Rd. Clinton, NC 28328.
