Gerald Dixon Stancil, 68, of 1754 Ozzie Road, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Serenity Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Flowers, and Rev. Ralph Carter, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral service at Serenity Baptist Church. Entombment will follow at 10 AM, Monday, January 4, 2021 at Grandview Memorial Garden.
He served as a deacon and held many positions in the church. He loved people and sharing the gospel. He served on multiple missions trips including Belize, Haiti and Cuba. He was active with Baptist Men as a member of the Disaster Relief Team. He was vital in getting Charity Rebuild established, spending many hours there serving others.
Gerald, born in 1952 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Edgar Rudolph Stancil and Effie Pearl Turner Stancil. He was a livestock and poultry farmer and a member of Serenity Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, William (Bill) Payne and wife Murline and Jerry Wilson Stancil.
Survivors include: wife, Brenda Carter Stancil; brother, Larry Felton Stancil (Carol); special niece, Amanda Carter Bass; and a special mother-in-law, Lula Jane Carter.
