Victor Gene Wilbourne, 84, formerly of Clinton passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2026, in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 11 AM, at Clinton Family Worship Center with Pastor Lynn Blackburn and Pastor Ben Troublefield, officiating.  Interment will follow the service at the Clinton City Cemetery.  The family will receive friends and family Thursday, May 14, 2026, from 10 AM – 11 AM at Clinton Family Worship Center and other times at his home.

Gene was born in Sampson County on February 26, 1942, to the late William Ernest Wilbourne and Rena Bass Wilbourne and was married to Phyllis Ann Williams Wilbourne for 61 years.  Gene was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Ray Wilbourne. He worked for years as a sewing machine machinist in the textile industry and drove cars for various automobile dealerships. 

Left to cherish his memory in addition to his wife, Phyllis is a daughter, Patty Wilbourne Dail (George), 2 grandsons, Justin Dail (Kim) and Cameron Dail, 3 great grandchildren, Gracie Dail, Kennedy Dail and Lincoln Dail, a sister, Ernestine Burgess and a very special friend, Denise Warren.
