Gene Dail Butler, 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his home from the effects of Alzheimer’s Disease.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 31st at Clinton City Cemetery with Rev. Tre Wiggins officiating.  The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the graveside.

Mr. Butler was a native of Clinton, the son of John Edd and Annie Ruth Butler.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Miranda Faith Butler.

He was a member of Baptist Chapel Baptist Church and a retired carpenter.  He loved reading his Bible, Clinton Dark Horse football, UNC Tarheels and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.  He is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Diane; two sons, Gene Dail Butler, Jr. and wife Bethena and Shaun Butler; granddaughter, Alexis Weeks; and grandson, Caleb Butler.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Patricia Draughon and Julie Reichard for respite care.  Dr. Gilbert Palmer and Staff at Clinton Medical Center; Dr. James Gray McAllister and staff at Waynesboro Family Medical Clinic and Liberty Hospice and to family and friends who brought food, sent a card, came by or called and prayed.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Baptist Chapel Baptist Church, Inc., 2208 Baptist Chapel Road, Autryville, NC  28318.
