Gayle Wilkes Reiber passed away, Sunday, November 26, 2023 at her home.

Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, November 28th at Plain View Pentecostal Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Ray Jernigan and Rev. Chubby Reiber officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1 PM – 1:45 PM just prior to the service at the church.

Gayle was born June 15, 1952 in Sampson County and was the daughter of the late James Edgar Wilkes and Lula Cain Wilkes.  She worked 35 plus years at Sampson Regional Medical Center, a career she dearly loved.  She was a member of Plain View Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church where she worked alongside of her husband pastoring for 16 plus years.  Gayle taught Sunday School and was an active member of the Ladies Ministry.  She enjoyed shopping (especially) at Belks, traveling with family and friends, cooking and making floral arrangements.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother “Buck” Wilkes.

Survivors include: husband, Webster “Chubby” Reiber; daughters, Donna Parker (James) and Heather Johnson; grandsons, Evan and Ethan Johnson; sisters, Ileen Fisher and Marilyn Kelly (Stoney); many nieces and nephews; many co-workers at SRMC, especially Pat Bradshaw, Geraldine Shipp, Sandra Johnson, Stephanie Blackburn and Phyllis Bradshaw.

Gayle had been on in-home Hospice Care since June 2022.  The family would like to thank 3 HC Hospice for the great care and support that they all gave Gayle.

To her nurse Cristy Gainey, her social worker Gwen Pope, her aides, Miranda, Juliette, Emma and her volunteers, Garrett, Marvey, and Sharon Robinson, and Chaplain Aaron Bissett, may God richly bless you love and care.
