Deacon/Chairman Freddie Lee Carter, Jr., 72, of 9040 N US 421 Hwy, Clinton, crossed over into Glory, Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, January 30th, at East Carolina Holiness Church with Elder James Buddy Brewington, Pastor Michael Jacobs, Pastor Glenn Vann and Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 PM – 8 PM, Friday, January 29th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Deacon/Chairman Freddie Carter was born in 1948 in Sampson County, was the son of the late Freddie Lee Carter, Sr. and Beulah Mae Carter and the loving husband of Alice Jones Carter for 53 years. In his younger years, he was a truck driver. He was a member of East Carolina Holiness Church and a Deacon for many years, a member of Coharie Tribe, Chairman of the Coharie Intra-Tribal Council since 2010 and served on Coharie People Board. He served with Honor and always stood for what was Right even if he stood alone. He was our Book of Knowledge and the Rock of Our Family. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Andy Brewington.
Survivors include; his son, Patrick Lee Carter (Kristina); daughters, Tammy Mejia (Silvano), Lisa Carter (Leopoldo), Laura Brewington (Our Angel-Andy), and Stephanie McClenny (Chris); sister, Vivian Carter Maynor; host of nieces and nephews; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-two great grandchildren.
