Franklin Matthew Knowles, 89, of 736 Honeycutt Rd. Clinton, passed away at his home on May 26, 2025.

Funeral services for Mr. Knowles will be at 2 PM, Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Old Mill Church of God, Roseboro, NC with Rev. Donnie Honeycutt, officiating with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive family and friends Friday, May 30, 2025, from 6 PM- 8 PM at Crumpler Honeycutt Funeral Home and other times at his home. 

Mr. Knowles was born in Sampson County on April 21, 1936, to the late Hurman Lee Knowles and Fannie Earl Holland Knowles and was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Mavis Lorise Honeycutt Knowles, a grandson, Jonathan King, and siblings, Edith Jackson, Leroy Knowles, Furman Knowles and Wilbert Knowles.  Mr. Knowles retired from Lundy’s with 20 years of service and then started working as the Meat Manager with Piggly Wiggly for 37 years.  He was one of the original founders of Old Mill Church of God where he proudly served as superintendent for 37 years. 

Mr. Knowles is survived by his children: Connie Knowles ,Gary Knowles (Denise) and Angela Hart (John): grandchildren, Stephanie Norris (Daniel), Nick Bartley Spell (Evelyn), Matthew Scholl (Tiffany), Brian Scholl, Tracey Parsons   (Daniel), and Bradley King (Halie): great-grandchildren, Drake Spell, Luke Norris, Alessa Spell, Gracie Douglas, Nick Spell Jr.,  Kaleb Burgess, Braxton Scholl, Cooper Norris, Shaniya Spell, Oliver Monero, Bladen Burgess, Leila Parsons, Finley Scholl and Zaylen Parsons and a sister, Silvonia Knowles Hall.
