Floyd "Peanut" Rose Byrd Obituary
Turkey,
Mr. Floyd Rose Byrd “Peanut”, 92, of Turkey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Floyd was born on March 7, 1934 in Wayne County to the late William Henry and Pattie Byrd.
He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a retired farmer and served in the military. He loved fishing and meticulously tended to his garden. Though enjoying being outdoors on his tractor and baiting his line, he loved his family more. Loved ones will say he loved to crack a joke and make his grandchildren and great-grandchildren laugh.
He is survived by: his loving wife of 64 years, Betty Byrd; his sons, Floyd Byrd, Jr., (Bonnie) and Stacy Byrd (Nicki) of Turkey; granddaughters, Santana Alphin (Kane), Hannah Webb (Branden), Kayla Peterson (Nicholas), and Rylie Tan (Michael); four great-grandchildren; one on the way; his sister, Joann Weeks of Clinton; and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Don “Shorty” Byrd, Lum Amos “Bob” Byrd, sisters Mary Weeks, Mabel Chavis, Carolyn “Fanny” Price and one grandson, Zachery Allen Byrd.
Graveside service will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, May 26th at the Byrd Family Cemetery in Turkey with Pastor Alfred Haney, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately after the service and at other times at the home.
The family would like to sincerely thank 3HC, Dr. Palmer, Dr. Yang and all the staff at Clinton Medical Center for all the devoted care they provided for many years.
