Floyd Lee Carter, 88, of 451 Brewington Rd, Clinton NC, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Sampson Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. with the service beginning at 3:00 PM, Thursday June 20, 2024, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 1165 Mt. Moriah Church Rd., Clinton NC.  Rev. Dr. Chris Webb and Rev. Dr. Michael Cummings will be officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Floyd was born December 28, 1935, in Sampson County and was the son of the late Roy Lee Carter and Beatrice Simmons Carter. He was also preceded in death by wife, Annie Elizabeth Carter, son Darrell Patrick Carter and brothers Glen Dale and James Ertyl Carter.

Survivors include son Edward Earl Carter (Sharon) of Clinton, NC, daughter Dulcie Carter of Fayetteville, NC; daughter-in-law Lisa Carter of Clinton, NC; grandchildren, Patrick Carter (Lauren) of Denver, NC, Cortney Carter of Charlotte NC, Devin Carter (Majesta) Clinton, NC, and Matthew Carter (Cassie) of Clinton, NC, Aaron Simmons of Holly Springs, NC, Bradley Simmons of Oak Grove, KY, Chelsea Simmons of Cary, NC; ten great-grandchildren; and siblings, Percy Carter (Farrell Rose) of Clinton, NC, Fairley Carter (Marshell) of Fayetteville, NC, Gary Carter (Ann) of Charlotte, NC, Don Carter (Loretha) of Clinton, NC. Floyd also leaves behind a host of family and friends.

Floyd served in the United States Air Force as an Airman Third Class until his honorable discharge due to an injury.  He retired from Lundy’s Packing Company after 30 years’ service.  His love and hobby of buying and selling cars evolved into an iconic business. He operated Floyd’s Used Cars successfully for 62 years.  Floyd was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the Senior Men’s Sunday School class.  He was a very gentle and friendly person. Floyd could be seen as a “silent partner” through his kindness, generosity and support of family and friends in his community.
