Everette Allen Hunter of Clinton passed away peacefully on Friday, February 20, 2026 at UNC-Rex with his family by his side at the age of 72. 


He was born on September 25, 1953, to the late Pourdis and Dorothy Hunter of Clinton.  He married his wife Kay Strickland Hunter in 1971 and together they shared 54 happy years together.  He retired from Schindler Elevator in Clinton in 2019 after 30 years of dedicated service.  He was a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandpapa, brother and friend.  To know him was to love him and he was loved by many. He never met a stranger and he enjoyed life fully.  Allen considered his family his greatest accomplishment and loved them all with all his heart.


Allen is survived by his wife Kay, two sons Douglas Allen Hunter and wife Jamie of Clinton and Richard Dale Hunter of Salemburg, grandchildren Allana Armatys (Reid), Alexis Jackson (Timothy), Kasey Hunter, Sydney Hunter (his sidekick) and Andrew Bradshaw, three great-grandchildren Ramsey Cole Armatys, Aurora Grace Armatys and William Allen Jackson, brother Ronnie Hunter, sister Teresa Johnson of Clinton, and many nieces and nephews.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Dennis “Bush” Hunter and a niece Dorothy Hunter.


A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, February 22nd with Reverend Jimmy Flowers officiating at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in the family cemetery in Newton Grove.    The family will have a visitation one hour before the service (2 PM – 3 PM) just before the service.
