Ethel "Ruth" Bradshaw Obituary

Ethel “Ruth” Bradshaw
November 6, 1933 – July 7, 2025

Ruth Bradshaw, 91, of Union Grove, North Carolina, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 7, 2025. Born in Denver, Colorado, on November 6, 1933, she lived a life marked by deep faith, fierce strength, and an unmistakable love for her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over 71 years, Max David Bradshaw. Ruth cared for Max with deep devotion as he battled cancer—even while privately fighting her own. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, she chose not to share her condition because she didn’t want attention or care for herself—she wanted every ounce of love and support to go toward her husband. After his passing, she continued managing her pain with nothing more than Tylenol, never complaining, even as her illness progressed. She only increased pain management in the final weeks of life when the pain was unbearable. Her strength was remarkable—both in those final months and throughout her life.

Ruth was the proud and outspoken mother of four sons: David Ray Bradshaw, Darrell Eugene Bradshaw, Leslie Glenn Bradshaw, and Gregory Max Bradshaw. She was a loving grandmother to 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She prayed for each of them daily—by name—lifting up their unique strengths and struggles, always hoping for great success in their lives and, above all, a strong relationship with Jesus.

A devoted Christian who treasured God's Word, Ruth didn’t have a single favorite verse—she loved the entire Bible and studied it faithfully every day.

She was known for her warm hospitality and the many gatherings she hosted throughout her life. Ruth and Max frequently opened their home to others, especially when their sons brought friends from college, the mission field, and beyond. They loved hosting and always aimed to make a lasting, positive impression. Even when it was just immediate family, Ruth delighted in preparing elaborate meals and often served them on her finest china—even for an ordinary dinner. She believed every guest deserved to feel special.

Ruth was also full of spunk, and Heaven undoubtedly received a jolt on July 7 when she arrived. She was known for saying exactly what she thought—sometimes without a filter. But as one of her grandsons affectionately said, “Honestly, the lack of filter was endearing...” Her words carried wisdom, even when we weren’t ready to hear it, and her honesty was always rooted in deep love and a sincere desire to help others grow. Ruth cared deeply, and her candid, devoted spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.

Her life was a legacy of prayer, resilience, and real, authentic faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who were blessed to know her.

A visitation will be held at Crumpler-Honeycutt, 118 Fayetteville St, Clinton, NC 28328 on Saturday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m., followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by her son, Darrell Bradshaw. A brief graveside service will follow at Plainview PFWB Church, 5105 Hobbton Highway, Clinton, NC, with a feast afterward in the church fellowship hall.
