Elmer Dexter Ammons, 69 of Tram Rd. Clinton NC passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, April 10,2024 at Holly Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. Dr. Randy Simmons and Pastor Julius Simmons officiating.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2-4:00 PM and other times at the home.

Dexter was a native of Sampson County and was the son of the late Elmer Pernell Ammons and Hazel Marie Carter Ammons.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Ammons.  Dexter worked for Lafayette Farms and Coharie Farms for over 30 years and was an avid hunter.

Dexter is survived by his wife, Landis Coleman Ammons and daughters, Bridget Brewington and Ashley Ammons.  He also survived by 3 grandchildren Markus Richardson (Janalee), Matthew Brewington and McKinley Brewington and 2 great-grandchildren, Lawsyn Richardson and Hazelyn Richardson.  He is also survived by his siblings, Elvis Ammons, Wayne Ammons, Frances Simmons (Sam), Vickie Powell (Craven) and Janet Jordan (Dwayne) and a host of family and friends.
