Elma Grey Merritt Hudson, 87, of 1235 Hudson Road, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Friday, Dec. 9th at Crumpler-Honeycutt Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Merritt Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home and at other times at the home.
Elma, born Sept. 29, 1935, was the daughter of the late John Strickland and Ada Jernigan Strickland. She worked with Sampson County Schools as a baker. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and was the first Deaconess at Beulah Baptist.
Survivors include; daughter, Kay Hairr (Keith) of Wallace; son, Roy Merritt (Pam) of Wallace; sister, Ada Elizabeth Strickland of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Amy Weeks, Justin Hairr (Stephanie), Roy Anthony Merritt (Brittany), Stephanie Knowles (Jason), Wesley Merritt and Coty Hill; and great-grandchildren, Kailee Merritt, Conner Merritt, Tyler Blackburn, Chelsea Merritt, Noah Merritt, Jacob Knowles, Zachary Knowles, Allison Hairr, Rebecca Hairr, Alivia Hairr, Marissa Weeks and Lance Weeks.
